William Lyon

Born in New York but a long-time resident of Madrid, William Lyon has reported on Spanish life for, among others, Variety, United Press International, Time-Life and CBS and NBC radio. From 1982 to 1986 he was a reporter and editor at El País, Spain’s leading daily. A collection of his bullfight articles for the paper, La Pierna del Tato: Historias de Toros, was published in 1987 by Ediciones El País to popular and critical acclaim. He later headed the copy editing and bullfight sections at the Madrid daily El Sol before returning to El País as a columnist in the Metro section. His bullfighting articles in English have been published in the International Herald Tribune, The Financial Times, Newsday and Connoisseur Magazine.
